Meetings

Join our book club every Friday at 1:30 PM at Busboys and Poets Takoma Park for engaging literary discussions. We explore books that challenge, inspire, and unsettle us, leaving a lasting impact long after the final page. Be sure to check our reading list for upcoming selections.

RSVP through the DC Explorers Meetup Group on our Facebook Group.

When you arrive, please start a tab at the bar, order at least one drink, and the bartender will direct you to our table.

Join the Book Discussion Club at I Should Read That

Our book club's reading list features a diverse selection that includes classic literature, modern fiction, history, biography, science fiction, travel, philosophy, science, political thought, memoir, and works that explore themes of identity, justice, culture, and the human condition. This variety aims to spark engaging literary discussions among our members.

How We Select & Read

The books for our book club are selected through October 2026. After this period, we will use a randomizer to choose all subsequent books at least one month before our first discussion of that book. To keep our literary discussions engaging, we will alternate between shorter works and larger “EPIC” reads, with most selections being drawn randomly from our evolving community reading list.

Adding to the Reading List

Because the book club itself is designed to grow through shared curiosity, members who complete two books with us may contribute two titles from their personal or "mental" bookshelf to the randomizer.

One of the goals of I Should Read That is to continually expand the lens through which we see the world through engaging literary discussions.

As members start contributing books to the randomizer, we especially encourage recommendations that offer modern and historical perspectives from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and East Asia, thereby enriching our collective reading list.

Our Vision

We hope to build a book club that fosters intellectually ambitious, globally curious, historically aware, and deeply human literary discussions while curating a diverse reading list.
